Training Options by Tec-Ease The following courses are available On-Site or Webinar Management Overview: (4 hours) This overview will define the quality, cost and delivery benefits of making GD&T an integral part of the Product Development/Delivery Process. When used properly, GD&T will get the right questions asked early in the program, simplify the engineering drawing and directly relate customer requirements to product specifications and process control. Print Reading: (16 hours) This course is intended for all personnel who need to understand the meaning of drawing. Emphasis is placed on understanding multi-view relationships, symbology and conventional dimensioning and tolerancing methods. Numerous exercises involving the reading of prints will be utilized throughout. Fundamentals of GD&T: (24 hours) You'll discover the major pitfalls of traditional coordinate tolerancing - and how they may be overcome by using Geometric Tolerancing. Then, starting with your basic blueprint knowledge, you'll learn the symbols, terminology and rules of Geometric Tolerancing as prescribed in the Standard being taught. The GD&T Hierarchy will be presented to explain the relationship between tolerances and how to most economically apply the concepts. Classes Available in Accordance with the ASME Y14.5M-1994, ASME Y14.5-2009, & ASME Y14.5-2018 Standards. Inspecting Geometric Tolerances: (16 hours) This course will help give guidelines for selecting the most appropriate inspection method for a part feature. You’ll gain an understanding of design principles to produce low cost, functional gages. Method of practical datum selection as well as guidelines for using modifiers will be discussed. Criteria for selecting company/division gaging policies and an overview of gaging equipment capabilities will also be covered. Tolerance Stack Ups: (16 hours) This advanced training teaches how to study the cumulative effect of part tolerances in order to reduce product costs. You’ll learn how to establish part tolerances, perform 2-D analyses of designs, use geometric tolerances in stack ups, and much more. Numerous assemblies will be studied. A workshop to apply tolerance stack-up analysis techniques to student supplied problems may be included.

Designing with GD&T (Applications of GD&T): (16 hours) This seminar is intended for those who have already taken a fundamentals of GD&T course in accordance with the ASME Y14.5 - 2009 Standard. During this course, you will learn how to apply GD&T to a variety of situations including your own parts. By using the GD&T Hierarchy, you will sharpen your Geometric Tolerancing skills, fill in gaps, get your questions answered, make GD&T more useable, reduce product cost, improve datum selection and create robust designs. Advanced concepts on the application of profile and position, as well as, fixed and floating fasteners, will be discussed. In addition, you will learn how to properly select datum features and allocate tolerances, expand your knowledge of simultaneous requirements, composite tolerancing, profile tolerancing, robust design and boundary calculations. Drawing Preview: Nearly all companies require a drawing review be conducted by the various disciplines that will use the drawing. To avoid unnecessary drawing activity and expensive changes to drawings and CAD models, drawing “previews” rather than “reviews” should be held. Conducting a “review” is too late. Someone has already spent considerable time detailing the part drawing or file. Changes resulting from a “review” require modifying the model and the GD&T that has already been applied to the drawing, which results in added expense and increased total cycle time. A drawing preview involves bringing the team together to discuss critical parts and part features before any dimensions or tolerances are applied to the drawing or CAD file. ASME Y14.5-2009 to 2018 Update: This training will walk you through the changes found in the Y14.5 2018 Standard including: new symbols, removed symbols, revised concepts, rearranging of sections, and more Public Seminars and Webinars Public Seminars are provided in a public location with participants from several different companies and industries.
