
The cylindricity tolerance can be used with cylindrical features only.

The tolerance will be on a leader line which points to the cylindrical feature.

Cylindricity is also very difficult to measure without the aid of a computer. Both circularity and cylindricity require sweeping the surface to get many points which are usually evaluated by a computer program.

Cylindricity controls a cylindrical feature better than the control provided by:
- a size tolerance
- total runout
- profile of a surface
